Living With A Shih Tzu rescue Dog
Shi Tzu Rescue organizations are good organizations for which to volunteer. They look for abandoned Shih Tzu dogs and try to find them proper homes to live out the rest of their lives. Very rarely will you find a Shih Tzu puppy to adopt in one of these organizations unless you are lucky enough to find a rescue league that has discovered a puppy mill. Usually these puppies will adopt out very quickly so if you do get a lead on one, it would be wise to adopt right away.
There is an adoption process that you will have to endure as if you were adopting a child, just not quite as extensive. These organizations just want to make sure that their future adoptive parents are adequate people in which to care and nurture one of their rescued Shih Tzu dogs. They will also follow up with you after your have adopted your pet and make sure everything is working appropriately both for you and the dog.
A Shih Tzu rescue dog wants to be loved like any other pet and will do what he thinks his owner will want him to do. If there is a certain behavior he starts to exhibit right away, then it is absolutely imperative to correct that behavior right away. The rules of the house have to be put into place immediately for the Shih Tzu rescue dog in order for him to understand what is expected of him.
Of course, many Shih Tzu rescue dogs have been mistreated and are ill or just old and some behavior cannot be changed. If this behavior is not too disruptive to the family then try to adapt to it as best as you can.
As most Shih Tzu rescue dogs come with various problems most of them are adaptable. Most of these problems are resolved with a lot of tender loving care and plenty of food at feeding time. Long walks and pleasant grooming also will help the Shih Tzu rescue dog and the new owner bond. We all want to be loved and Shih Tzu rescue dogs are no exception. These dogs might just need a little extra love to realize they have found their forever homes.
A Shih Tzu rescuedog can become the most important member of the family once it has bonded with you. They make wonderful lap dogs and they are great fun to brush and put their hair into pigtails. They are very protective of their owners and, therefore, will be very protective of any children in the home.
They do not shed very much and once housebroken, and the majority of Shih Tzu rescue dogs are completely housebroken since they come from other homes, they make perfect pets.
Studying about the breed and learning about Shih Tzu’s Chinese ancestry will tell you a lot about your dog and almost instantly you will know how to care for your new Shih Tzu rescue dog. Shih Tzu’s were bred in the Forbidden City in Beijing and, therefore, these were the dogs to the Royal Dynasties. They were small docile dogs that were passed down through generations and became known as “The Chrysanthemum Faced Dogs”.
