Homemade Chicken Coops- An Easy Way To Build A Chicken Coop Yourself
I needed to build a chicken coop for my hens. I bought a guide and chose the plan that best suited for my garden. I have four hens but using this plan you can build a chicken coop for any number of chickens you have.
The first and foremost step is the design and structure of the coop, the outlook,
the interior of the coop and paint color you like. You must plan in advance and seek help from a poultry farmer and draw a design on paper. Choose a design according to the space available.
The coop should be planned in such a way that it is easy to apray the pesticides and insecticides inside the coop. You dont want to to get annoyed while cleaning it. The chicken coop must get sunlight and fresh air. You can put an electric bulb for the light. The insulated walls help to keep the chicken house dry. You can put these things at any time in a homemade chicken coop. In a pre-built coop you dont have such luxury.
Your chickens need a plenty of air to keep them dry. The coop should have small openings for collecting eggs. The bigger openings or doors are needed for supplies like feeds and water. The chickens make a mess of their meals so put the feed a little higher. The chicken feed can be bought in many varieties. You can save money on feed by following Bill’s guide.
Some birds like to live high from the ground. So you must have perches inside the coop. This is the place where the chickens normally sleep at night. Keep in mind to build enough perches and roosts for all your birds so that they don’t have to fight for space.
There must be a small door so that the chickens can go in and out of the coop. This door must be locked when chickens are in. Keep in mind that the door should have no space underneath. In some designs this door can lead to a open space with a run around. This gives the chickens more space to play and scratch. The coop can optionally have a large door for you to go in to supply feeds.
These are very important points to remember while building your own chicken coop. In this way you can buid a comfortable chicken coop. These birds need little care but they will supply healthy eggs for you everyday.
